Tip for Neck Pain

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 11, 2009 by myomegapain

Before you spend hundreds of dollars on chiropractic pillows, consider this easy trick recommended to me by a physical therapist. Roll up a bath towel evenly so that the width of the towel is close to the width of your shoulders. (To see a visual scroll down and watch the video) Slip it into  your pillow case  lengthwise so that the towel is at the base of your neck when you lay flat on it. As you can see from the diagram below, your neck requires extra support, or else you will be spending an average of 8 hours a night straining your muscles.

For detailed instructions on how to roll up the towel so that it is most comfortable, watch this video on Youtube.

This can be tucked beneath your neck instead of a pillow, or placed inside your pillowcase for additional support. For fast relief for neck pain try MyOmega Triple Strength Pain Relief Rub.

For back pain and hard-to-reach areas we recommend MyOmega Targeted Pain Relief Spray.

Do you suffer from chronic pain?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 14, 2009 by myomegapain

Chronic pain is very different from acute pain. While acute pain is your body’s way of alerting you to a possible injury, chronic pain is usually a result of past damage. It is persistent and can last for months, weeks or even years. Some causes include arthritis, past injuries or tissue damage, cancer, or certain neurological diseases.

If you suffer from chronic pain, you doctor may recommend oral medications, acupuncture, or even surgery. There are many alternative ways to help with your pain management. Some include psychotherapy, meditation, improved sleep and behavior modification. Studies have shown that a lack of sleep can lower your threshold for pain by 24%*. Unfortunately, chronic pain often causes a lack of sleep, leading to a seemingly endless cycle that is difficult to manage.

The Power of Topical Analgesics

The problem with oral drugs like opioids or narcotic analgesics is that your body builds up a tolerance, and you can become addicted. It is not ideal for long-term pain management. Unlike opioids, topical analgesics are FDA approved, non-addictive and can actually work better over time. Capsaicin has been shown to deplete Substance P, the chemical in your body that signals your brain that you are in pain. When used regularly, this chemical is gradually diminished and you will actually experience less pain over time.

Try MyOmega™ Penetrating Heat Therapy Cream, a Capsaicin-based topical warming pain reliever that soothes away muscle and joint pain while helping you reach your long-term pain management goals. This advanced formula works quickly to relieve joint pain, muscle aches, cramps and the pain associated with arthritis. It also features timed-release IcePearls™, a soothing cooling complex designed to last up to 6 hours. Make it a part of your pain management plan today.
